LOCATION: Mt. Burdell, San Andreas Dr., Novato

Celebrate Native Plant Week at one of the best wildflower locations in the county. We’ll visit a variety of habitats including volcanic outcrops, serpentine soils, freshwater springs, and oak woodlands. The flora of this Novato preserve is incredibly diverse and includes a number of rare plants as well as many species that don’t occur anywhere else in Marin. We request that no pets (except service animals) attend.

Appropriate for what ages: This walk is for ages 15 and up.

Degree of difficulty: Easy to moderate.

Attendees should wear: Comfortable clothes for walking; sturdy, closed shoes; sunscreen; a hat

Attendees should bring: Picnic lunch and water bottle. Camera, notebook, binoculars, field guides, if desired

Directions:Meet at the gate to San Andreas Fire Road on San Andreas Drive in Novato. From Hwy 101 in Novato, take the San Marin Drive exit and go west 2.3 miles. Turn right onto San Andreas Dr. and follow it approximately 0.5 miles. The gate is on the right, before you get to the dead end. Park along the road
