8. Hikers enjoying Gary Giacomini OSP. photo Vernon Smith preview

Sunday, April 22, 2018 – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Location: Meet at the gate to the Willis Evans Trail on Redwood Canyon Drive in San Geronimo.

Come celebrate California Native Plant Week with a visit to a special habitat. The ridge above the south side of the San Geronimo Valley is one of the great gems in the county. Wildflowers (including several serpentine endemics), a pygmy Sargent cypress forest, and incredible views are our reward for the sustained climb that will bring us to the top.

This hike is for ages 15 and up. It is a moderately strenuous walk with a sustained climb to the ridge and back, about 4 to 5 miles overall. We request that no pets (except service animals) attend.

Wear: Hiking clothes and shoes, hat, sunscreen

Bring: Lunch, water, binoculars if you have them

Free   No preregistration required

Rain may cancel. If questionable weather, call (415) 893-9527 after 8 am on the morning of the event to hear a recorded message if cancelled.

Directions: From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the exit for Sir Francis Drake Blvd and go west 9.4 miles. Turn left onto Railroad Ave, sharp right onto San Geronimo Valley Drive, and take the second left onto Redwood Canyon Drive. The gate is immediately on the right.
