The ride will make a clockwise circuit around Mt. Tam. Starting at Mountain Home Inn, the route will include the West Peak; Mountain Theater on Lagunitas-Rock Spring Road; a steep serpentine descent to Bon Tempe on Rocky Ridge Road; a single-track trail along the edge of the Meadow Club; a paved road to Lake Lagunitas; a well-behaved single track around the lake (legal); and then Eldridge Grade, Hoo Koo Y Koo, and a return to Mountain Home. The ride will take five to six hours.
Ceanothus gloriosus var exaltatus thumbStops along the way will include Double Bow Knot (large fir, three kinds of manzanita, chinquapin); the base of Fern Canyon (redwood, undergrowth plants, chain fern); chaparral shrub flowers on Railroad Grade (yerba santa, several ceanothus, chaparral pea); serpentine chaparral on Rocky Ridge Road (leather oak, Tamalpais manzanita); the seep at Lake Lagunitas (oracle oak, shooting star, California saxifrage, mistmaiden, spoon-leaved sedum); and Eldridge Grade (California nutmeg).
