Tuesday, June 12, 10 a.m.–12 noon
Join Cynthia Powell on Ring Mountain the day after she gives her program on the Calflora app at the June 11 chapter membership meeting. Cynthia will demonstrate how to use Calflora in the field on a smartphone. Attendance at the June 11 Chapter meeting is mandatory for anyone participating in this rigorous field trip.
We hope to find in bloom several of Ring Mountain’s rare plants. In addition to those mentioned above for the June 9 outing, we will be looking for white rosinweed (Calycadenia multiglandulosa), western larkspur (Delphinium hesperium ssp. hesperium) and Indian pink (Silene laciniata var. californica). The top of the ridge affords 360-degree views, and serpentine rock outcroppings host an array of interesting plants. A plant list is available on the CNPS Marin Chapter website.
Meet at the top end of Westward Dr., off Paradise Dr. in Corte Madera, a few blocks east of the Paradise Shopping Center.
Bring lunch, plenty of water, and clothes for possibly cold, possibly hot, almost certainly windy weather.
Leaders: Cynthia Powell and Dave Long
