Abbotts Lagoon, Point Reyes National Seashore
10 a.m.–2 p.m.

This area will have many spring and summer plant species for us to see in the varied plant communities of the ponds, marshes, lagoons, beaches, and dunes. Plants we’re likely to discover flowering are the yellow coastal form of California poppy, lupines, cobweb thistle, spineflowers, native mints, beach suncup, beach layia, gumplant, seaside dandelion, yellow sand-verbena, and more. The total distance, including the return, will be about four miles. The trail is mostly level on dirt paths, with some some loose sand at the end.

Meet at the Abbotts Lagoon parking lot trailhead. I suggest you dress in layers, wear a hat, and bring a sweater and windbreaker as the weather is unpredicable. Bring your lunch and water.

A comprehensive plant list.
