On July 24, 2015 several teams of volunteers took part in a Plant Safari on Mt. Tamalpais organized by the Marin Municipal Water District.
The team which included Doreen and Vernon Smith went to Lake Lagunitas, and found several species including Eleocharis acicularis (needle weed), Alisma lanceolatum (water-plantain), Kyllinga brevifolia (shortleaf spikesedge), Typha domingensis (southern cat-tail), Helenium puberulum (sneezeweed), as wll as several species of Dragonflies.
