Mushroom Group will meet at a different location on Point Reyes

CNPS will meet as planned at the Jepson/Johnstone trailhead for a plant walk

Although we had planned this outing as a joint hike of the Jepson-Johnstone trail with the Mycological Society, it was discovered that collecting of mushrooms is not allowed at Tomales Bay State Park. The location of the mushroom hike has been changed to the Bear Valley Trailhead near the Bear Valley Visitor Center at Point Reyes National Seashore.

CNPS will lead a plant walk  on the Jepson-Johnstone Trail as originally planned.

Tomales Bay State Park has botanical treasures any time of the year. We’ll go from the Zen-like environment of the bishop pine forest through mixed hardwoods to ledum swamps and decomposed granite beaches along the bay.

Meet at 10 AM at the small unmarked parking area at the top of the Jepson Trail, which is located just south of the entrance to Tomales Bay State Park on Pierce Point Rd. To get there from central Marin, go out Sir Francis Drake Blvd., several miles past Inverness. At the fork in the road, bear right onto Pierce Point Rd., and go approximately one mile to the parking area. If you see the entrance sign to Tomales Bay State Park, you’ve gone too far, so turn around and go back 200 yards.
