Mimulus douglasii (purple mouse-ears)
9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
This field trip is also a co-trip with the Milo Baker (Sonoma) CNPS Chapter to Mt. Burdell to see the earliest wildflowers.
Starting from the Open Space gate at the end of San Andreas Dr., we’ll take the fire road east to a serpentine outcrop that’s usually populated with many different native species, then we’ll explore further on the Michako Trail. A short circuit via San Marin Fire Road will return us to our starting point. Hike will go to lunch time or later.
Maps of Mt. Burdell trails can be downloaded from the Marin County Parks website.
Flower Sheet with 20 of the wildflowers that we may see.
Leader: To participate, you must contact Doreen Smith (phone 415.479.7888); this hike is limited to 20 people per Marin County Parks rules unless Doreen can get a co-leader to split the group in two. Any rain cancels, but this hike can be rescheduled at a later date if enough participants are interested.
Directions: From Highway 101, take the San Marin Dr. exit in North Novato and go west approximately 2.3 miles. Turn right on San Andreas Dr. Go uphill a short distance to the open space gate; there is ample street side parking available.
