A most colorful late season wildflower display can be found on the north slopes of Loma Alta. Let us hope that those north-facing slopes will still be in bloom, as the hillsides in the rest of Marin start to turn brown. If there are just a few flowers, we will just have to settle for the fantastic views of Marin and the North Bay.
The Loma Alta trail climbs steadily from Big Rock along Lucas Valley Road to the peak, a total of almost 1,000 feet over 2 miles. Much of the flower show is just up the hill from the road, so participants can just walk as far as they want and retrace their steps.
