This walk will highlight the spring wildflowers and amazing views of the Bay from the southeast side of Mt. Tamalpais. We will start on Gravity Car Road, a wide, flat fire road and part of a former railroad bed that wound up to East Peak. We will pass through forest and chaparral, enjoying bush poppy, California milkwort, peak rush-rose, and many more. See the CNPS plant list for this area to get a sense of the incredible species diversity.
We will meet at the entrance to Gravity Car Road, off of Panoramic Highway near the Throckmorton Fire Station and Mountain Home Inn. There is some parking on Gravity Car Road as well as a paved parking lot on the other side of Panoramic Highway, across from the Mountain Home Inn. We will start our walk along Gravity Car Road. For those who want a more vigorous hike, we will split off to complete a loop with the upper portion of the Hoo Koo E Koo Trail.
