Field Trip: A Salvia Garden & Edgewood Park

We’ll visit Betsy Clebsch’s garden in La Honda, lunch there, then repair to Edgewood Park in San Mateo County.

Clebsch wrote A Book of Salvias: Sages for Every Garden and The New Book of Salvias, the authoritative guides to the genus. She has gardened for several decades on a scenic, sunny ridgetop in the Santa Cruz Mts., where she grows not only salvias, but a host of interesting perennials, shrubs, vines, succulents, old roses and California natives with a minimum water, but maximum love.

Edgewood Park and Preserve is an excellent spot for summer shows of native flora, and Kristin Jakob will lead the way. A plant list can be found here. A partial collection of plant images can be found here.
