Grasses have the reputation for being hard to differentiate. Bruce will show you a novice-friendly approach to grasses that uses PlantID.net as a teaching tool. You enter what you know – your location and easily distinguished features of your grass – to create a short list of possible grasses. PlantID then helps you compare and learn about those species.

Bruce will begin his presentation with a short slideshow on grass patterns and terms. He will then demonstrate how to use PlantID.net to identify and learn about Marin grasses. Questions and discussion will follow his presentation.

Bruce Homer-Smith and the Marin Chapter of CNPS have been developing https://PlantID.net for the past eight years. It uses simple searches and illustrated descriptions to make it easy to identify and learn about local plants. Recently, Bruce has added grass search and comparison pages to allow novice enthusiast to learn about your local grasses.
