You might not believe it, but grasses are actually part of the larger evolutionary clade of plants referred to as angiosperms, or flowering plants. This family is immensely successful with grasslands, which are assemblages of plants where grasses are most prevalent, being found on every continent except Antarctica.
Laura Lovett Tribute
On April 25, 2026 the Marin Chapter of CNPS lost one of its most talented and stalwart board members, Laura Lovett, just one week after she ably oversaw the Chapter’s spring plant sale. As an avid native plant gardener and communications expert, Laura contributed to nearly every facet of our organization’s activities and governance.
A New Chapter for Native Habitat in the Heart of Larkspur
Behind the new library in downtown Larkspur, something quietly transformative is beginning to take root. The newly-planted habitat garden, led by Refugia Marin, is turning a forgotten outdoor space into a living landscape filled with California native plants and opportunities for community connection.
